Im going to an equestrian camp in a few days!!! Im VERY excited but i need help for packing! and sizing…
here are my questions!
1. i borrowed a pair of english riding boots from my friend and they fit foot wise but they come up right below my knee, ant their kinda big through there. Like the part from my ankle to my knee is a bit too wide. Not close to big enough for my feet to slip out but is that normal?
2 It said if you have your own helmet(approved for riding) and gloves where can i find cheap riding stuff?
3 anything else i should know about horses/camp/packing?
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

1. No, boots that high should fit snug on through your calves. I would suggest buying some cheap paddock boots (because knee high boots are hot and really unnecessary for camp) for $30-$40. If you don’t want to buy new boots, you can just wear closed toe shoes with a 1/2 inch heel.
2. If I could only buy one piece of riding equipment, it would definitely be a helmet. I hate borrowing other people’s helmets because you don’t know what’s in their hair (*cough* lice *cough*)…and imagine how much sweat and dirt built up in that one helmet! Buy an ASTM Approved/SEI Certified schooling helmet for $30-$40. You can also get $5 gloves with rubber grips from a tack shop, or just use normal cotton gloves you wear in the winter.
To be honest, gloves aren’t a necessity, and many kids go without them in normal lessons.
3. You said you’re leaving in a few days so I don’t know if you have time to order stuff online. If you do, I suggest statelinetack.com. Here are some links:

http://www.statelinetack.com/item/devon-aire-ladies-freedom-zip-paddock/SLT652136/
I have owned everything in the links above and can testify that they are all good for the price.
Google "tack shops near me" and you should see a list of nearby tack stores. There might even be a State Line Tack!
Good luck, and have fun!

Hi. I have a few issues that I’m hoping I can get some helpful tips from other equestrians. I’ve been riding for 30 years, all disciplines & this is my 2nd OTT TB and I didn’t have these issues w/ my mare. I have a 17h, 4yo G whom I rcv’d May07. He had a slight bow (1st & last race). I gave him 4 months off, hand walked him & have brought him back slowly. I gelded him Feb07 & have had him under saddle for 14 months. He seems to be going well but here are my issues:
1)He’s a nippy little bugger. (He lost his last tooth 2 months ago) Any ideas?
2)I’m riding him dressage & use a Myler low port D bit. I’m having some issues at the canter. On the left lead, in order to prevent him from changing leads it seems I have to stay forward in the saddle @ a 2 point. I’m worried that I maybe creating a bad habit for him down the road.
3)Again, on the left lead canter. After coming off the long rail (if I go the full length of the arena) he does not want to turn left. I have been trying to keep him on a 20 meter circle & slowly expanding & decreasing the circle. He does well until I move to the rail.
4)I have worked him over calvaletti’s @ the walk & trot. After I get his cantering issue resolved, I would like to start him over fences. What is the next step to teach a young horse small fences?
5)I have been looking at tendon boots. There are carbon gel, leather flocked w/ wool or neoprene, pvc, etc. I usually just use the standard old running bandage when I ride. What are your experiences with these boots? Do you prefer one kind over another? If so, why?
Thanks and happy holidays.
1.After you rule out pain and vet check .he could be just copping a tude so if its that i would bop him hard on the nose or under the side of his mouth and you shouldn’t have to do it more than a couple times .
4.Raise the cavities and do jumps under 12 inches and just one jump dont put up 2 .and get in your proper position use lots of leg and put poles on the ground to help him figure out the distence
