i need to break them in. my old boots need to be resoled and i needed boots. what can i do to them/my feet to prevent horrible blisters like i got from my old boots. i’ll be wearing them for 5 1/2 hours straight. HELP!!!

I don’t know what to tell you, considering I never get blisters, or anything form breaking in boots. They just feel stiff to me at first, and then they begin to feel more comfy, and fitting. If I were you, I would just wear them when you’re home, and when you have to wear them to ride, or do some field work, they should be more comfy.

I am doing a project for Honors World Literature and I have created a survey. Please help me out by stating your first name (it can be made up if you are concerned about privacy) and which of the following fairy tales you liked best as a kid: Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping beauty, or Puss in Boots. PLEASE do not state any comments that are negative or that have nothing to do with this subject. I KNOW there are more fairy tales out there but just pick the one you think is the best out of these four, otherwise you do not help me. THANKYOU

Soo I just started back up again with riding lessons and I’m learning English. I was just using tennis shies but my teacher said I needed some boots. Soo today my dad and I went to acadamey :/ and got some western boots….I REALLY dislike them. They are big on me and I just don’t like them. If I have to wear them then I will but is it okay to use western boots for English lessons? Thanks :)
Ok thank you that makes me feel a lot better haha :)
Haha TRUST ME. I DIDNT want to get them but my dad said "don’t worry about looks and stuff and if they r too big then we will get some big socks….and also they were on clearence :/ If I could have choosed I would go with actual English boots. I’m going to look around and maybe I can find some good boots. Thanks for the answers everyone :)

Yeah of course! I use western boots to ride english all the time. But if they dont fit I would get a different size or wear thick socks.

Hi. I have a few issues that I’m hoping I can get some helpful tips from other equestrians. I’ve been riding for 30 years, all disciplines & this is my 2nd OTT TB and I didn’t have these issues w/ my mare. I have a 17h, 4yo G whom I rcv’d May07. He had a slight bow (1st & last race). I gave him 4 months off, hand walked him & have brought him back slowly. I gelded him Feb07 & have had him under saddle for 14 months. He seems to be going well but here are my issues:
1)He’s a nippy little bugger. (He lost his last tooth 2 months ago) Any ideas?
2)I’m riding him dressage & use a Myler low port D bit. I’m having some issues at the canter. On the left lead, in order to prevent him from changing leads it seems I have to stay forward in the saddle @ a 2 point. I’m worried that I maybe creating a bad habit for him down the road.
3)Again, on the left lead canter. After coming off the long rail (if I go the full length of the arena) he does not want to turn left. I have been trying to keep him on a 20 meter circle & slowly expanding & decreasing the circle. He does well until I move to the rail.
4)I have worked him over calvaletti’s @ the walk & trot. After I get his cantering issue resolved, I would like to start him over fences. What is the next step to teach a young horse small fences?
5)I have been looking at tendon boots. There are carbon gel, leather flocked w/ wool or neoprene, pvc, etc. I usually just use the standard old running bandage when I ride. What are your experiences with these boots? Do you prefer one kind over another? If so, why?

Thanks and happy holidays.

1.After you rule out pain and vet check .he could be just copping a tude so if its that i would bop him hard on the nose or under the side of his mouth and you shouldn’t have to do it more than a couple times .

4.Raise the cavities and do jumps under 12 inches and just one jump dont put up 2 .and get in your proper position use lots of leg and put poles on the ground to help him figure out the distence

Hi, I’m 13 and I’ve been looking for tall boots for a while. I am a size 7 in shoe size, 12 and 1/2 around my calf, and about 16 inches from my heel to knee. So whenever I look for tall boots, the calf is always wayyyy too tall. I don’t want to specially order customs ones that cost like 600 dollars.
Does anyone know who makes cheaper tall boots that have a shorter calf? Ovation and ariat are both too tall for my legs.
Thanks!
Lizzie

You have to take into account that field boots "drop" about 1.5" to as much as 2" when they’re broken in… they wrinkle a bit at the ankles, and "give". Therefore, with a 16" leg height, you should be buying boots that are about 17"-18" high on the sizing chart. Seems like overkill, and you will be incredibly uncomfortable for a week or so riding in them (you’ll probably even end up with bruises on the backs of your knees)… but the pain is worth it once those boots break in correctly.

I’ve found that Ariat field boots break in and drop a bit easier/further than Ovation. True custom boots are AMAZING, of course, but still require the added height and break-in time that any other commercially-available boots do.

I bought a pair of Gypsy Justin boots 2 1/2 years ago , and i loved them, till i was showing the other dady and the heal came undone. I really love the boots , but what is a step up from the boots that will last longer? Are Probaby’s what I should buy? Or Gypsies again? Please help which Horse riding boots I should buy next

my favorite brand for boots is ariat. the leather is great and lasts a long time and they are supper comfy and are easy to break in. my tall boots from them are sooo nice and they offer my leg support and are supple and have survived the dressage arena and event field for 2 years now without a loose seem "knock on wood"!

Some simple black ones?
That are okay to wear to go shopping and not just horse riding, :)

Thanks,

At a western apparel shop, a boot shop, or a tack shop. Riding boots have a heel that tilts to the front & is higher than regular ranch boots. After you ride a few times you may not want to wear them shopping. A good pair of boots that aren’t to fancy sell for around $175.00–up. There are going to be boots with a flat heel in a western shop, these are work boots, not riding boots.
