Here’s everything I wear/use for my equestrian horseback riding lessons:

-skinny jeans.
-cowboy boots.
-pink helmet ;)
-leather gloves
-the good ole’ thermal underwear (top and bottom) ;P
-a flannel shirt.
-a fleece pull over sweater.
-a white vest.

Since the lessons and stuff are really expensive, I can’t really afford breeches or anything so I was wondering is this stuff good enough? And does anyone have any patterns so i can make my own breeches/riding pants etc.. (i made my graduation dress and lots more stuff so i am experienced)

go here for patterns of breeches

I’m looking for a good, durable, and comforable pair of riding boots. I will be taking english riding lessons but I don’t think I will ever be entering in any type of shows. I know alot of english riders use the boots that come up just below the knee but I can imagine that they get awfully hot in the summer. Suggestions?

Hi!
The best brand of riding boots are Ariat or Dublin. Both have styles that either come to just below the knee (which is typically used for shows) and then they have boots that come to the ankle. My regular Riding boots for lessons and such are Ariat’s that come to the ankle and my show boots are Dublin. Both are very comfortable. Hope this helps! :)

I’ve ridden Western all my life and all I ever needed were some old paddock boots. Now, I’m definitely considering joining the equestrian club at my college and would love to learn to ride English (its a Hunter/Jumper facility).

I’m having a difficult time figuring out the sizing of some tall boots. Since I’ll only be schooling, I’m looking at a pair of these

Does anyone know what the C means? (ex, C4, C3, C11) versus the Regular sizes? I’m very skinny and short, I’d more than likely fit into children’s boots actually.

Thanks for your time!

In the Uk they have different length and calf sizes which must have something to do with the C part I would think, the best thing I can suggest because not sure if that would be the same in the US is to give them a ring and check it out with their customer service department. I do this if I am not sure about anything before I would buy it online just to make sure and they will be happy to help you out. Hope this helps a bit

i was just wondering if i should get some ropers, or some more sturdier ones with a wide spur ledge. anybody have a really good boot they like to race in? thanks!

I like Boulet’s the best, but if your on a slight budget go for Ariats.

I like Boulet’s because of the thin leather sole, and flexibility. I can feel the stirrup really well through the boot, and they take no breaking in. I prefer leather soles to crepe any day!

I just got new custom riding boots from der dau and have been trying to break them in but I can never wear them for long periods of time because they cut off the circulation in my feet. Is this just because they havent dropped yet and are very tight around my knee or were they improperly fitted?

Naaaahhh… you didn’t need those feet anyway!

LOL! Of course it’s bad!

When they drop, the boot top will be going to a WIDER part of your calf, so if they’re that tight at the top they aren’t going to drop. I’d say they don’t fit. Take ‘em back and get ‘em adjusted.

If you’re set on trying or can’t take them back, take them to a boot repair shop and have them stretched. Or you could try some boot stretch.

I am looking for a pair of long leather riding boots with a dressage bow with the ladies black patent top but i can’t find them anywhere!

I did find a pair that were high quality rubber but i’ve always thought that rubber was cheap? Would high quality natural rubber make a better boot? They were £350 aswell which sounded expensive for rubber.

I have found lots of the mens ones with the burgundy top but just can’t find anywhere selling the black patent ladies version.

Please help!
I am in the UK

& Harrods don’t have a clue what a Drake & Hall boot is apparently although she sounded dippy but as i’m in Scotland i can’t pop down anytime soon to check.

Hmmmm back to the drawing board.

They are impossible to locate but I have found that Dehner makes them and I’m sure if you asked now E Vogel could too. This was of course after I had mine made and everyone said they couldn’t do that… well that was when I found these and now I want to trade mine for a good patent cuff! Well they are the next ones for me which of course will be decades from now…
