i have a pair of paddock boots (size 5 and used) they are in great shape but they are getting a little small. what is the average price for a used pair of paddock boots? and new? and this is a really dumb question, can you only use tall boots for english riding?
Yeah, it’d be hard to go in tall boots with a western saddle. Plus the western style is much different from the English. I mean you could do it, but I wouldn’t.
Take the boots to a local tack store. They’ll usually price em for ya, and sometimes you can even have em sell the stuff for ya.

Chick’s Saddlery is VERY cheap (Google them.) State Line Tack has good quality for less than Dover’s, but Dover does have good clearance sales on name brands (there is one going on now, check their site.)
eBay is good if you know what you are looking for. Some tack shops have consignment tack and clothes…that’s where I got my breeches and chaps growing up.

Okay, im gonna go riding today "yippe!"
Anyways,I left my Riding boots at my aunts house,so would a pair of boots with a heel work?
Do they have to be pointed boots for riding ?
Thanks.
They don’t have to be pointed toes but they are safer for riding. If you are thrown or have to kick out of the stirrups, a hiking boot is much more likely to get hung in the stirrup. I often ride with my hiking boots on when I’m going into the back country on a spot trip. Where the horses drop us off and then we back pack from there, not going to carry extra boots just for riding.
I try to just keep my toes in the stirrup, especially in places where there is a possibility of a problem, so I can get my feet free quickly. You need to be careful when you dismount or your left boot will hang in the stirrup. Don’t know what kind of riding you are doing, most of my riding is cross-country in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California.

I am going to start western riding in the summer (probably) and that means I’ll need some boots. I don’t want to pay over $50.00 for them but they need to be in good shape. If you know of any websites that have cheap but decent ones you can order or of any store, please post below!
http://www.shoeghost.com/ sells cheap but decent western UGG boots
Do you like UGG?
